Henry Bernard Chalon (British, 1770-1849)

Chalon studied at the Royal Academy and in 1795 he was appointed as animal painter to the Duchess of York and later to the Prince Regent and William IV. He had many important patrons, exhibiting almost two hundred paintings at the Royal Academy. He was primarily known as a painter of horses, but also produced many small-scale portraits of dogs.
